Thanks to the prevalence of APIs in today’s web services, developing cool things on the web is easier than it’s ever been. When I decided to push myself to start learning PHP one of the first projects I had in mind was a Twitter client using the OAuth library by Abraham Williams and the simplicity of Helvetica.

Helvetitweet is more than just good looks, it’s powerful too. Using AJAX it can fetch the tweet being replied to, a profile, and more tweets – all without refreshing the page.

Development on Helvetitweet has been on the backburner for awhile now, but the project is still visible in action at helvetitweet.com.
